Okanagan Charter
On June 25, 2019, Laurentian University committed to becoming a member of the Canadian Health Promoting Campus Network by pledging to commit to a set of health promoting initiatives inspired by the calls to action and the principles of the Okanagan Charter (PDF).
Accordingly, Laurentian University joins other higher education institutions in recognizing that enhanced learning, satisfaction, retention and engagement among students, staff and aculty can be achieved by weaving health and wellness into everyday operations, business practices and academic mandates.
The official adoption of the Okanagan Charter is one of 16 recommendations put forth in a report prepared by the Campus Wellness Advisory Group. The President’s Task Force on Campus Mental Health and Wellness at Laurentian University is the new standing committee tasked to implement the 16 recommendations over the course of the next five years.
