Dear Laurentian University community,
We are writing to share an update on the assessment of the Jeno Tihanyi Pool. Our Facilities Department has continued working diligently with our consultant, JL Richards, as well as specialist firms to further understand the investment required to re-open the pool.
From July 31st to August 3rd, we had a team of concrete scanning specialists from Xradar, based in Toronto, on-site to conduct comprehensive scans of the pool walls and floor. The specialists demonstrated a high level of expertise and thoroughness throughout the process.
The Xradar team successfully completed their initial scans and will provide a final report in September, which will be essential to informing our next steps. Once the full extent and cost of the required repairs are determined, we will be in a position to determine the next steps.
We understand the importance of the pool facility and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this complex situation. We will continue to keep you informed about the progress and developments regarding the Jeno Tihanyi Pool. Another update will be provided no later than October 30, 2023.
