Mission, Vision, and Goals
Our goal is clean water, now and forever.
Our mission is to understand the factors affecting the health of northern aquatic systems. The knowledge gained is widely communicated for use by policymakers, industry, and the general public to protect the health of these special ecosystems and to ensure responsible development of the resources found here for the benefit of Indigenous communities and all Canadians.
We envision the Living with Lakes Centre to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence for the protection, restoration, and responsible development of northern aquatic ecosystems.
Cooperative Freshwater Ecology Unit
The Cooperative Freshwater Ecology Unit (Co-op Unit), housed within the Vale Living With Lakes Centre, was established in 1989 and is a unique and successful partnership between Laurentian University, government partners and industry collaborators.
