Courses in High School - IDC 4U

Body: 

Laurentian University offers Grade 12 students the opportunity to take a course, while earning a credit towards his or hers OSSD (IDC 4U) and university credits.

In order to be eligible, the student must:

  • have an average of 75% or more for his or her Grade 11 courses;
  • be in the pre-university stream;
  • receive written support from the guidance councellor or principal of the school;
  • be able to work independently;
  • be able to travel to the Laurentian University campus.

2018-2019: Courses offered

3 credits

Available from September to December 2018.

Monday and Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., in person (Laurentian University campus).

 

This course is an introduction to the relationships between societies and the natural environment. It presents natural environments and environments modified by human activities as a dynamic system integrating the hydrosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. In particular, it addresses issues and challenges related to water, climate and "natural" disasters. Lectures and practical work including field work.

2019-2020: Courses offered

3 credits

Available from September to December 2019.
