History of Mathematics

Topics include early number systems, arithmetic and geometry, classical Greek mathematics, mathematics in the middle ages, the development of analytic geometry, calculus and probability theory, the renaissance of number theory, non-Euclidean geometries and the age of rigor in analysis, and logic and set theory. PREREQ: completion of 2nd-year Mathematics or instructor's permission. (lec 3) cr 3.
