Roman Poetry

This course analyzes the major Latin poets of the Golden Age of Rome. Themes such as love, politics, philosophy, religion, and literary criticism are explored. Selections from authors such as Catullus, Horace, Virgil, and Ovid are read in translation and placed within the appropriate literary and historical context. PREREQ: 12 credits of ANCS or the permission of the instructor. (lec/sem 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for ANCS 3317, ANCS 4317, CLAS 4317 and CLAS 3317. Lecture (3.00).
