The Gendered Construction of Violence
This course examines the gendered nature of violence, considering how the social construction of masculinity and femininity informs violent behaviour as well as differences in motivation, response and the perception of violence by men and women. It focuses on forms of violence that women commit and how a focus on gender can illuminate broader systems of violence such as racism, militarism and the destruction of the environment. PREREQ: WOMN 2406 or permission of the department. (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for both WOMN 3407 and either WOMN 2405 or WOMN 3405.
