Pathway Options
In order to support the success of international students, who require additional English language training prior to starting in Laurentian’s undergraduate and graduate programs, Laurentian University has signed a partnership with Cambrian College and the International Language Academy Of Canada ( ILAC) for English Academic Preparation (EAP) Pathway programs.
Students can meet language requirements by pursuing one of the following:

Completing the Cambrian College EAP pathway program level B with a minimum score of 80% for direct entry into Laurentian University programs.
OR
-
Completing the International Language Academy Of Canada ( ILAC) EAP Level 16 or Certificate PW 3.3 for direct entry into Laurentian University programs.
Important Note: Students must apply to one of the EAP pathway programs on their own if they choose to do the EAP Pathway to satisfy their language requirement for entry to one of our programs.
Cambrian College
Cambrian College English for Academic Purposes Program (EAPP)
Cambrian College is a publicly funded college located in Sudbury, Ontario Canada. Their campus is 20 minutes away by car from the Laurentian University campus.
Cambrian will provide individuals applying to Laurentian’s undergraduate and graduate programs, who have not met English language requirements, an opportunity to study EAP. Cambrian provides EAP programs online or in person which provides flexibility for students pursuing their EAP studies.
Students who successfully complete an EAP Certificate with a grade of 80% or higher in each of the three core courses in Level B, will be considered as having met the English Language requirements for admission into Laurentian’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Length of Program
The EAP program has two Levels: Leave A and Level B. The length of EAP programs is 14 weeks for each level.
Which Level of EAP?
Students will be tested for language proficiency (using either the Duolingo English Test or Oxford Test of Language) or will be placed according to the Language Proficiency Chart below if they have previously completed an acceptable English language proficiency test within one year of admission.

Steps to Apply:

Step 1 - Review the English for Academic Purposes program page, and visit and explore the content on the page.

Step 2 Click on the “Apply Now” button and follow the instructions and enter your application information.

Step 3 – When asked if you are working with an agent, please select “yes”. Select “Laurentian University” as your agent.

Step 4 – When asked to select your program, choose the program with the 4-character code “EAPP”.

Step 5 – Follow the remaining steps below to finish submitting your application. You must upload your Laurentian Admission Offer Letter to the Portal

Step 6 - Receive your official Letter of Offer from Cambrian

Step 7 - Pay your first semester of tuition and ancillary fees in full to Cambrian. Collect the receipt for your fee payment

Step 8 - Apply for your Canadian Study Permit/Visa, please make sure you attach your Admission offer letter from Laurentian University.

Step 9 - Submit your application for residence to Cambrian College (if applicable); Connect with Cambrian College international student support office for assistance in finding off-campus housing at internationaladvising@cambrianinternational.ca (if applicable)

International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC)
ILAC’s University Pathway Program leads to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programs and acceptance to most of ILAC’s 85+ Pathway partner colleges and universities without an IELTS or TOEFL score. ILAC provides free academic counselling and university placement services.
Students will study ILAC's EAP program fully online from the comfort of their own homes.
Students who successfully complete ILAC EAP Level 16 or Certificate PW 3.3 or higher, will be considered as having met the English Language requirement for admission into Laurentian’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
Students will either be tested for language proficiency (using ILAC free academic counselling and university placement services.) or will be placed according to the Language Proficiency Chart below if they have previously completed an acceptable proficiency test within one year of admission. The program duration and which level you will be studying can be found in the table below.

Step 3 Click on Submit once you upload all documents.

Step 4 - ILAC will send you the confirmation to acknowledge your application by email. You will receive instructions on how to pay application fees, and program tuition fees, and receive the ILAC EAP Pathway Offer Letter.
