Originally from Sudbury, Luciano fondly remembers Laurentian University for its beautiful northern Ontario campus, intimate class sizes, group work with classmates, and its dedicated and engaged faculty. He is grateful for these unique educational experiences that provided him a strong foundation on which to build his future.

After having graduated cum laude he moved from Sudbury to begin his career at the KPMG (Thorne Riddell) Toronto office where he received his CPA designation and later specialized in international taxation. Luciano said that shortly after starting his first job he appreciated how Laurentian’s B. Com program had fully prepared him for his new career and allowed him to successfully complete the CPA exams.

Luciano is now a Partner with the Zzen Group of Companies, involved with land development and construction, and PVC building products manufacturing sectors. He is also the Chief Financial Officer for manufacturing operations, and asset manager. Luciano is also Chairman of the Board for Titanium Transportation Group, a trucking and logistics business listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and a board member of other public and private companies.

For more than twenty years, Luciano has participated as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors, and acted as President of the Meta Foundation, a charity in support of special needs individuals. He is largely involved in Capital Campaign and fundraising matters. Meta Foundation’s mission is to support individuals in the community with developmental disabilities to live their fullest life. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the St. Christopher Children’s Home for more than a decade dedicating his time to fundraising activities and renovations for the Home.

Luciano met his wife Donna, a Sports Administration (SPAD) graduate, during his time at Laurentian University. They have two sons, Michael (also a Laurentian SPAD graduate), and Nicholas. Luciano’s brother Edward and sister-in-law Louise are also graduates of Laurentian University.

Luciano is an avid cyclist, a practitioner of yoga, meditator and reiki. He enjoys skiing, and is a member of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The family’s northern Ontario camp on Windy Lake is one of the Galasso’s favorite summer haunts and keeps them coming home to Sudbury.

Luciano has revisited his northern Ontario alma mater over the years; last year he addressed the business school graduates at their convocation, he is an advocate for the university’s new capital initiatives, and had the pleasure of attending the university’s new president inauguration dinner last year.

Even after forty years, every visit to Laurentian’s wonderfully located campus reminds and inspires Luciano to continue to appreciate the university’s environment and vibrant community, and to be grateful for the strong footing Laurentian provided him. He concluded by saying “as time goes on I have come to appreciate how much Laurentian University has done for my family and for myself.”
