Welcome Craig Fowler!

We would like to take this opportunity to formally welcome Craig Fowler to the Office of the Vice-President Research, in his new role as Associate Vice-President of Innovation, Research Partnerships, and Economic Development. The main focus of Craig’s mandate is to actively seek and expand Laurentian’s research partnerships, strategic initiatives, and commercialization and incubation opportunities. He will also work actively with our research centres and external partners to develop new instances of collaboration as well as lead large-scale multi-disciplinary research programs for targeted external funding opportunities. Lastly, Craig will lead the celebration and promotion of excellence in research and innovation within and outside of Laurentian.
Prior to joining The Office of the Vice-President Research, Craig was the Associate Vice-President for Laurentian University’s Barrie Campus, where he was responsible for the administrative infrastructure there, supporting and developing student recruitment and marketing strategies, as well as community, government and alumni relations and engagement.
Prior to this, he spent over 12 years with the Ontario government. His career as a public servant, he held a series of progressively senior leadership positions in various ministries, including Finance, Economic Development and Research and Innovation. Craig also has a Master’s degree in Local Economic Development and a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, both from University of Waterloo. In addition, he has completed Executive programs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Ivey School of Business.
