MARCH 7, 2016 - The Goodman School of Mines and Laurentian University are proud to announce the inaugural Goodman Gold Challenge (GGC), an investment management competition for undergraduate students. The competition will be held at Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario from February 22 to February 25, 2017.
FEBRUARY 26, 2016 – Two Laurentian University professors have been honoured with the 2015-2016 Students' Choice Teaching Awards. From among more than 150 nominations, this year's Students' Choice award recipients are Aaron Langille, a Master Lecturer in Mathematics and Computer Sciences, and Marie St-Onge, an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. The awards were announced by the Centre for Academic Excellence.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2015 – Dean of the Faculty of Health and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education at Laurentian University, Dr. Roger Couture today announced that Dr. Carol Kauppi has been appointed Director of Research at the Centre for Research in Social Justice and Policy (CRSJP).
JUNE 22, 2015 – Seven Laurentian University faculty members and three graduate students have won new research grants and scholarships awarded by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
Total funding awarded to Laurentian University researchers amounts to $1,329,500.
MAY 27, 2015 – Laurentian University’s Acting Dean in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, Dr. David Lesbarrères has been honoured with this year’s Partners in Research Virtual Researcher on Call (VROC) Expert Participation Award.
The award was presented at a ceremony celebrating the Partners in Research 2015 National Award recipients on May 26th in Ottawa.
March 21, 2014 - Today, the Franco-Ontarian Institute and ACFAS-Sudbury welcomed the Honorable Stéphane Dion to present a lecture entitled “Regard critique sur la Feuille de route”. It was featured among 20 or so events ranging from scientific lectures to concerts supported by the Office of Francophone Affairs at Laurentian University in March, which is Francophonie Month.
Sudbury(January 7, 2014) – A test developed in Sudbury is proving successful in predicting which breast cancer patients will best respond to chemotherapy and live cancer-free for a longer period of time following treatment.
Results conducted into the RNA Disruption Assay™ (RDA™) test were presented last month at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in San Antonio, Texas.
July 8, 2013 - Built in 1973, the Single Students’ Residence (SSR) accommodates close to 400 students every year. Alongside the Mature Students’ Residence, SSR was one of the earliest residences built on the Laurentian campus.
“This residence complex is so important to our on-campus population, and it’s time for a comprehensive facelift for SSR,” said the University’s Director of Capital Projects, Brad Parkes. “We are making the building more energy-efficient and making some structural improvements, as well as updating the interiors,” said Parkes.
June 24, 2013 - Laurentian University announced today that broadcast journalist, author and documentary film-maker Steve Paikin will become Laurentian University’s second Chancellor, succeeding Madame Aline Chrétien.
Steve Paikin is the anchor and senior editor of TVO’s flagship current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin. He has produced and hosted a variety of current affairs programs for Ontario’s educational broadcaster for more than 20 years, and is also well-known as the moderator of provincial and federal leaders’ debates during several election campaigns.
