The 2012-2017 Strategic Plan was developed through extensive consultation featuring over 900 inputs from community representatives, students, faculty, staff, alumni, members of the Leadership Group, and members of the Board of Governors. The five-page document was unanimously recommended by a 27-member steering committee after a 10-month process involving over 40 consultation and validation sessions in Sudbury and Barrie. It was subsequently endorsed overwhelmingly by the University’s Senate in November 2011 and unanimously approved by the Board of Governors in December 2011.

The strategic planning process began in the fall of 2016 and is expected to come to an end December 2017. The scope and principles, endorsed by Laurentian University’s Senate and approved by the Board of Governors, are established to guide the development of the plan. The appointed, twenty-four-member Steering Committee will work to define Laurentian’s purpose, values, key goals and anticipated outcomes for 2018-2023, building on unique strengths and opportunities.
