Aime Dimatteo

Director General, Federal Economic Development Initiative in Northern Ontario

No stranger to the North, Aime brings an extensive and solid understanding of current issues and opportunities facing Northern Ontario communities.
As the Executive Director of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) for eight years, Aime was responsible for overseeing this significant development corporation, which administers numerous funding programs designed to foster job creation and strengthen communities across the north. 
Aime was appointed Director General of FedNor, the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario in 2010. His primary role is to ensure that FedNor delivers on its mandate to create economic growth, diversification, job creation and sustainable communities in Northern Ontario.
Aime is an active member of the Ontario Federal Council and sits on the executive committee.  He also spearheaded the development of the Northern Ontario Management Group which is serving as a community of practice for all departmental managers in the Northern Ontario region. 

 

Don McBrearty

Film Director

Don McBrearty has been directing award-winning television drama for more than 35 years. His credits include the Academy Award-winning Boys and Girls, the Gemini Award-winning A Child’s Christmas in Wales and Butterbox Babies , the Air Canada Award winning mini-series The Arrow, the Peabody Award-winning The Interrogation of Michael Crowe, the CFTPA Indie award-winning 8-hour mini-series October 1970, and Terry (Terry Fox story).

Don has put his stamp firmly on the Canadian episodic television landscape with credits including the drama series Murdoch Mysteries, Remedy, Cracked, Bomb Girls, King, Heartland, Wild Roses, ReGenesis, Blue Murder, Power Play, ENG and The Ray Bradbury Theatre. 

His most recent work includes the television movie based on Stephen Leacock’s Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, multiple episodes of Murdoch Mysteries and The Good Witch and movies-of-the-week for The Hallmark Channel and The Lifetime Network.
 

 

Dr. Shirley Cheechoo

Executive / Artistic Director, Spoken Song Film Production Company

Shirley is the president of Spoken Song Film Production Company and founder of the Weengushk Film Institute on Manitoulin Island. She is a Cree actress, writer, producer, director, and visual artist. She was named chancellor of Brock University in July 2015, the institution’s first female and first Aboriginal Chancellor.

 

Josh Desormeaux

Operations Manager, William F. White International Inc. (Whites)

Josh was born and raised in Sudbury Ontario and has always had an interest in film. He attended film school at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ontario and completed some studies at Lakehead University. In 2011, Josh moved to Toronto to pursue a career in film. He began by volunteering his time with "Whites" Toronto. After a month of hard work and perseverance, he was offered a full-time position with their team as a Lighting & Grip floor worker and later promoted to Repair Technician. During his time in Toronto, he also had the opportunity to work for and direct various projects for NABET & IATSE 873.

In 2014, Josh returned to Sudbury and helped open "Whites" Sudbury. He also shoots and creates films with Midnight Society Productions.

 

Mark Montefiore, Moderator

President & Executive Producer, New Metric Media

President of New Metric Media, Mark Montefiore was named The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Generation Under 35 (’14) and Playback’s Top Ten to Watch ('12). Mark executive produces the multiple Canadian Screen Award winning CraveTV Original Comedy Series, Letterkenny, and What Would Sal Do? and CityTV's flagship original drama series, Bad Blood. He also produced the Whistler Film Fest and Toronto Film Festival Film Circuit Audience Choice’s winning feature film, Cas & Dylan. Mark is a graduate of the CFC’s Producers Lab, the Berlinale Talent Campus, and the Schulich School of Business.
