School of Northern & Community Studies

Anthropology and Workplace and Labour Studies

The School of Northern and Community Studies aims to foster the well-being of land and communities
with a focus on Northern Ontario.

We acknowledge that the school is located on Anishinaabe Territory and through our work we aim to build
respectful long-lasting relationships in Indigenous Territories.

Our programs are designed to:

  • encourage students to become critical and creative thinkers and doers;
  • integrate Indigenous-based methodologies and partnerships in our classrooms;

  • promote social, environmental, cultural and economic sustainability;

  • transcend disciplinary boundaries.

Within the School of Northern and Community Studies, we offer courses from Anthropology, Labour Studies,
Geography & Economics.
