Model Parliament

The Laurentian University Annual Model Parliament trip is a four-day three-night trip usually during the second week in January in which students travel to Ottawa to take part in a unique simulation of Canadian government. Laurentian University is only one of two universities in the country that has the privilege to sit in the House of Commons.

It is a fantastic educational experience that all Laurentian students should consider attending. The House sits on Friday from 9-5, with a break for lunch in between. After a day of debate, speeches and votes we have a banquet where students receive awards for outstanding performances. From Friday night until the Sunday morning students are on their own to explore Ottawa.

The Laurentian University Annual Model Parliament Trip has always been one of the best memories for Laurentian graduates, because this trip is not only a great educational experience, but a chance to get to know your peers and professors. We look forward to your continued participation in this great event.

Please note the Model Parliament is cancelled this year, 2021.
But we hope to resume this event as soon as public health circumstances allow.
