Food, Ritual and Religion

This course examines the role of food and eating as a way of creating and maintaining a coherent cultural and religious worldview. Topics include fasting, feasting, ritual cannibalism, gluttony, morality, and resource allocation. The focus is primarily on the Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions. (lec 3) cr 3.
