Reading Italy Through Its Scandals

The aim of this course is to present Italian culture through the dynamic of the scandals that in many ways anticipated and provoked the changes in the country's cultural climate. The course will study (through the analysis of literary works, journalistic writings, films and television) the major scandals of postwar Italy that occurred in the spheres of politics, culture, soccer and other domains. This course will be taught in English. All books read will be in English and films watched will be in Italian with English subtitles. (lec 3) cr 3. Prerequisites: Ital 2005 or 30 university credits or permission of the instructor.
