Introduction to Oncology

The course introduces different concepts in oncology and management of cancer. It explores how cancer develops in people, why it develops in certain people and how it may spread to different areas of the body. The major routes of spread are closely examined with major emphasis on the lymphatic system. The other major systems related to oncological spread, skeletal and circulatory are also discussed. Treatment options for oncology including surgery, systemic and radiation therapy are discussed. PREREQ: PHYS 1206/7 or PHYS 1006/7, BIOL 1506 and BIOL 2105. (Lec 3) cr 3.
