Payroll Clerk, Office of Budget and Payroll
Required Position
Temporary Appointment – August 2021 until December 2021
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the successful candidate will:
- Maintain and update payroll records for bi-weekly paid employees by collecting, calculating and entering data;
- Prepare and issue government remittances for the bi-weekly pay;
- Prepare and process documents regarding university benefits;
- Prepare and issue Record of Employment forms;
- Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests;
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information;
- Prepare necessary reports by compiling and reconciling data;
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures;
- Assist other Payroll Clerks and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential at all time;
- Perform other duties directly related to this position as assigned.
Qualifications
- Two-year college certificate or equivalent;
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is required;
- Three to five years of related experience;
- Ability to do calculations quickly and accurately;
- Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations;
- Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of relevant software (Word, Colleague Payroll System, Gmail);
- Demonstrated knowledge in Excel spreadsheet software;
- Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work fluently, oral and written, in both official languages, French and English.
