Payroll Clerk, Office of Budget and Payroll

Required Position

Temporary Appointment – August 2021 until December 2021

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the successful candidate will:

  1. Maintain and update payroll records for bi-weekly paid employees by collecting, calculating and entering data;
  2. Prepare and issue government remittances for the bi-weekly pay;
  3. Prepare and process documents regarding university benefits;
  4. Prepare and issue Record of Employment forms;
  5. Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests;
  6. Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information;
  7. Prepare necessary reports by compiling and reconciling data;
  8. Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures;
  9. Assist other Payroll Clerks and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  10. Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential at all time;
  11. Perform other duties directly related to this position as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two-year college certificate or equivalent;
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is required;
  • Three to five years of related experience;
  • Ability to do calculations quickly and accurately;
  • Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations;
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of relevant software (Word, Colleague Payroll System, Gmail);
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Excel spreadsheet software;
  • Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work fluently, oral and written, in both official languages, French and English.
