Full-Time Appointment
This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and\or hours of work. However, the work week would remain thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week. The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August. Upon four weeks’ notice, the work week and/or hours of work may be changed. (This may include evening and/or weekend shifts.)
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of ERP Development, the successful candidate will:
- Support the ERP environment used by administration and faculty. This includes to:
- create new programs, modify existing ones and troubleshoot any errors or bugs in an ERP environment such as Colleague;
- understand the new program or modification and the existing environment and workflow;
- determine the best course of action to program the modification;
- test and verify the changes with the supervisor and the department.
- Assist in the customization of the Self Service software. This includes:
- Modify the existing software to meet the requirements of the University in English and in French;
- Program in Unibasic, HTML or javascript and troubleshoot.
- Program in Visual Studio in .NET and C# environments.
- Perform testing on developed code (initial and regression)
- Develop APIs consumable by internal users using one or` more platform like Ellucian Web-Api and or custom API
- Maintain a clean codebase through effective use of repository management and version control (Team Foundation Server or Github).
- Perform other duties directly related to this position as assigned.
Qualifications
- Honours undergraduate degree (4 years) in computing;
- Three to five years of related experience;
- Programming experience in BASIC, e.g. Visual Basic and familiarity with 4GL languages;
- Experience with C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, MVC, Web API, JavaScript (including the KnockoutJS, jQuery and jQuery UI libraries), HTML5, JSON and XML with a solid understanding Object Oriented design techniques.
- Experience with database technologies: MSSQL, MySQL, etc
- Experience in working with XML and EDI;
- Knowledge of UNIX operating system;
- Experience in working with Client/Server applications;
- Ability to work as a team member and with very different functional environments and a variety of users;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks from multiple clients;
- Bilingualism (English and French) or willingness to attend French language training will be required; knowledge of an Indigenous language or demonstrated fluency is a definite asset.
