Laurentian offers a number of diverse undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as a wide range of services to assist you in your transition to Canada.

1. Choose a Program and Check that you meet the Entrance Requirements

You will find a list of all undergraduate programs and their admissions criteria on our website. Found a program that you are interested in? Click on the Program Details section to find information such as admissions requirements, degree options and much more. Undergraduate programs can be found on the undergraduate programs page.

2. Where to Apply

International Students In Ontario High Schools

If you are an international student, and you're currently registered in an Ontario high school, you will apply as a "101 Student" using the OUAC Application For 101 Applicants.

After we receive your application from OUAC, we will email you with your Laurentian student number and further instructions.

 

Other International Students

You will use the Online International Application Form for full-time studies.

After we receive your application from the Online Application Form, we will email you with your Laurentian student number and further instructions.

 

3. Deadlines for Application and Document Submission

September Start - Open Enrollment Programs

Application Deadline: April 15th

Document Submission Deadline: May 1st

 

September Start - Limited Enrollment Programs : Architectural Studies, Nursing, and Sciences infirmières

Applications may remain open after the deadline if not all seats are filled. If that is the case, applications submitted after the deadline will be considered.

Application Deadline: February 1st

Document Submission Deadline: February 15th

 

January Start - Open Enrollment Programs

Not all open enrollment programs will have a January start date. The application will contain the start dates for each program.

Application Deadline: September 15th

Document Submission Deadline: October 1st
 

4. Document Requirements and Document Submission Instructions

What is due by the documents deadline?

  • All-Academic Transcripts (for students not currently registered in an Ontario high school)
  • English language test results (if applicable)
  • Supporting documents (as required by the program)* 

*The Architectural Studies program has additional document requirements.  Please note that it is the responsibility of the applicant to submit all required documents by the deadline.

 

How to submit documents.

To ensure successful uploading of the supporting documents onto the myLaurentian portal at my.laurentian.ca, the files must be in PDF format. The uploading function is best operated with Google Chrome or Firefox. Each file cannot exceed 10 MB in size. Please note that you do  NOT need to mail duplicate copies of uploaded documents to the university. 

The university will issue a conditional offer and request the submission of official documents at a later date. Once admitted, we will require official transcripts and language scores from all previous institutions attended to arrive by mail or by email from the sending institution directly to our Office of Admissions at admissions@laurentian.ca or to our official mailing address listed below before the start of the term to which the student has applied. 

Please note that we do not accept transcripts submitted by students as being official transcripts.

5. After You Have Applied

  • You will receive an Acknowledgement email with instructions to access the myLaurentian Portal within two weeks of your application submission. 

  • Create your myLaurentian Portal account by clicking on the “New to Laurentian” registration section of the page to submit documents and to check your application status.

  • For international students currently enrolled in an Ontario High School, your guidance counsellor will submit your grades on your behalf. Please remember to submit language scores and supporting documentation as required. 

  • For all other applicants, upload your transcript(s) and supporting documentation! 

  • If your first language is not English, you may need to send us English language test scores.

  • Check your email periodically for any communications from the Office of Admissions. 

  • Apply for Residence via the myLaurentian Portal account.  

  • You will need to apply for a study permit.

 

6. Accept Your Offer Of Admission

Congratulations! Welcome to the Laurentian Community. Your decision letter will appear at my.laurentian.ca under the Documents folder for your quick reference. To accept your offer, follow the instructions provided to you on your myLaurentian Portal. 

If you have applied using the OUAC website, you will be redirected to accept your offer using the OUAC site. If you use another method to apply, you will see the option to accept your offer on the myLaurentian Portal.

Requirements for Evidence of English Language Proficiency

If English is not your first language or mother tongue, you should provide evidence of your English language proficiency through one of the entry requirements or language tests below.

Academically admissible applicants who do not present appropriate English Proficiency Requirements will be automatically offered a conditional offer of admission based on completion of the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program in Laurentian University’s Language Institute.   

English Proficiency Requirements

Minimum score/level

You have been educated in Canada and your first language is English, or you are a bilingual Francophone Canadian.

Equivalent of grade 12 academic English

Completion of one of Laurentian University’s English Language Pathway Programs.


 

Students can meet language requirements by pursuing one of the following: 

  • Completing the Cambrian College EAP pathway program level B with a minimum score of 80% for direct entry into Laurentian University programs. 

OR

  • Completing the International Language Academy Of Canada ( ILAC) EAP Level 16 or Certificate PW 3.3 for direct entry into Laurentian University programs.

Note: English as a Second Language (ESL) programs do not qualify you for this exemption and cannot be included in the number of years of full-time education in an English-language school system.  IB and/or AP English courses also do not qualify for an exemption from the English language requirements.

How to submit your English language test scores

We require official test scores sent by the testing agency directly to Laurentian University’s Office of Admissions. Faxes, email copies, and student copies of test scores are not accepted as official documents for admission. Students are also able to upload unofficial copies of their language score at my.laurentian.ca. However, this will result in a conditional offer of admission until the official document has been received.

The University reserves the right to revise or withdraw an offer of admission if you fail to meet the minimum English language requirements for the program to which you have applied.

To be admitted to a program offered in French or a bilingual program, a student must meet one of the following criteria:
